Excessive exposure to ultraviolet light generates free radicals in the skin. Over time, collagen and elastin within the skin break down, making the skin prone to thinning, sagging, and developing wrinkles.
What the studies say
A tea polyphenol (EGCG) found in green tea: researchers added it directly to cultured human skin cells, where it increased the activity of several antioxidant enzymes and reduced some of the ageing damage caused by UVA. This was a cellular experiment, not an oral trial.

What the studies say
L-Glutathione: in a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 60 healthy Thai women aged 20–50 were divided into 3 groups, with 57 people analysed at the end. 20 of them took 250mg of L-Glutathione by mouth each day for 12 weeks. Compared with placebo, wrinkles were fewer at some measured sites; skin elasticity showed a trend towards improvement, but the difference was not yet clear.
