High liver enzyme levels
The liver has no pain nerves, so early issues often go unnoticed. People usually only find out after checking liver function markers (AST and ALT) on their health check-up reports.
What the studies say
Silymarin is the key active component in milk thistle seeds, and silybin within it directly clears free radicals. In one study on patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, more people taking silymarin saw their liver function marker AST return to the normal range compared to those on a placebo.
Study source: Hashemi et al., Hepatitis Monthly, 2009. In this 24-week study, 100 patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease received either 280mg silymarin a day or a placebo. AST returned to the normal range in 62% of the silymarin group and 20% of the placebo group. The study tested silymarin, not this product.

Lots of oily takeaways
The carbohydrates, protein and fat we eat are all processed by the liver. Eating oily takeaways and refined carbohydrates over a long time can upset the liver's metabolic balance, and fatty liver is now showing up in younger people.
What the studies say
Inositol binds with fatty acids and phospholipids to help the liver process fat. In one study on obese patients with fatty liver disease who followed dietary advice, more people in the daily inositol group experienced a reduction in fatty liver compared to the placebo group.
Study source: Arefhosseini et al., Frontiers in Nutrition, 2023 (doi:10.3389/fnut.2023.1092544). 48 obese patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease; both groups received dietary advice. With 4g inositol daily for 8 weeks, fatty liver improved by one grade in 50% of the inositol group, compared with 16.7% of the placebo group. The study used 4g daily; this product contains 200mg per capsule.

Frequent social drinking
Alcohol has to be broken down by the liver, and the acetaldehyde and free radicals it produces can harm the liver. People whose face flushes easily when drinking have less of the enzyme that breaks down acetaldehyde, so it stays longer and does more harm.
What the studies say
Silybin in silymarin helps clear free radicals. A review of many years of research noted that in mouse studies, it reduced oxidative damage caused by alcohol. The authors stressed that stopping drinking is essential, and more human studies are needed. Taking it does not mean you can keep drinking.
